Entry – Renovation and Addition – Montville, NJ – 1997 – 600 SF
LGA Team: Lynn Gaffney
Clients: Diane and Nick Gaffney

The classic first project for a young architect is an addition to her parents’ (her childhood) home. It is full of memory and expectation. After years of greeting people in our tight glazed entry; space, light and privacy were obvious basic needs. In addition the focus was on transition and boundary as the space was both a foyer and a connector between the first and second floor. The door is an oversized, pivoted exaggeration of the movement from exterior to interior, detailed in copper. I had the opportunity to develop and control such details as the nail pattern of the copper door, the copper light fixtures, the stair rail bracket, the rustication of the steel balustrades, to name a few.
