Bushwick
LGA Team: Lynn Gaffney, Grady Gillies
Client: Jack Lawson of Bushwick Cooperative Federal Credit Union; Contractor: LJG Constr.

The non-profit Bushwick Cooperative Federal Credit Union hired LGA to design their new Myrtle Avenue location in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn. The existing building was a one-story through-lot masonry and wood rafter structure. LGA retained and exposed the building’s inherent qualities. The raw elements were enhanced by new glazed storefronts and a series of wall partitions to divide the space into public and private realms. This project establishes a physical identity for Bushwick Cooperative as well as meeting programmatic needs of the community-based organization. The increase in membership confirms the project’s success.
